Choosing between a Donations form and a standalone microsite for your Donations event

You can chose to use a donation form or build a donations micro-site by (linking/sharing) different URLs from your donations event on raisin

The Donations Module empowers you to choose between the approach of utilizing a donation form only or building a out a micro-site when collecting donations. With the flexibility to customize a home page and add any additional navigation pages desired, you can strategically manage donor (messaging/interaction/reception/engagement). Alternatively, you may opt to streamline the donor journey, and utilize only the donation form within your raisin event. This decision is ultimately a business decision that depends on your events fundraising needs.

Donation Module Home Page

Upon creating a new Donations event in Raisin, a default website template is automatically generated, providing a foundational structure for your Donations event. This template includes a Home page that can serve as a landing page for you to communicate messaging and branding, offering you an opportunity to engage with donors before they proceed to the donation form. The Home page of this event will be found listed in pages, in a new event, this will be found under Other Pages.

Donating from the Home Page

The Home page acts as a bridge between the donor and the donation form. Donors can navigate to the donation form by selecting the "Donate" button in the header or they can utilize the 'Quick Donate' widget on the Home page. The 'Quick Donate' widget  serves as a quick donation option that pre-populates the donation form with a selected frequency and donation amount to expedite the giving process from a raisin page.

Donation Form

The donation form is where a donor completed their donation, this page will always be found on the Pages Tab under default pages, and is labeled Donate. On this page, you will notice a grey box labeled 'System Content', this area is generated by the system behind-the-scenes - based on selections you made in the Donation Options, and User Profile fields area of admin when setting up the event. Everything around system content can be designed by you in the CMS, as usual. You can choose to make this form the landing page, streamlining the donor journey.

Linking the donation form only

You have the option to use the donation form in raisin as the landing page, instead of the home page. To do this, you will (link/share) the URL of this page instead of the event home page URL, to do this:

  • Select the settings icon to the right of the Donate page, copy the URL listed in grey below 'URL'

Note: This URL will always be your raisin event URL + donations/start, example: https://foundation.akaraisin.com/donationsevent/donations/start

  • Share/link this URL accordingly

Note: There are pages that will exist by default under Main Nav when a new event is created. If you opt to use only the donation form within this event, you may wish to review if any pages should live on the main navigation bar. If you would not like the donor to be able to navigate beyond the donation form, it would be advised that you drag and drop any pages listed under Main Nav, to Other Pages. Further, you may also want to review any pages linked in the footer region.

Seamless navigation from your foundation site to a raisin donation form

If you are linking a raisin donation form to your foundation site, you may consider designing your raisin event site to match design aspects on your foundation site. Items such as matching your header regions, linking the logo in raisin back to your foundation home page or adding a button on the raisin 'Successful' page for easy navigation back to your foundation site, can create a cohesive flow for donors, enhancing the donor experience.
