How are self-donations for a participant reflected in DPO?
During peer-to-peer event registration, registrants are always encouraged to donate before they join the event. It's a great way kick-start their fundraising, and get closer to their goal!
When a donor self-donates, a "Gift" for the donation is created within the Constituent. Related to this gift, a soft credit for that donation will also appear under the Gift tab for the constituent, crediting them for the donation they made to their own fundraising efforts.
This means that if you are looking at “Giving History and Summary” screen, and you check “include soft credits” their self-donation will also be included in total summary (so both the gift and the soft credit will be included). If you wish to see all gifts from other donors the participant is responsible for, you should deduct the self-donation soft credit.
