When two is better than one, Team Co-Captains allows the flexibility to assign multiple captains to a Peer-to-Peer fundraising team.
Team Captains help spearhead your Peer-to-Peer fundraising efforts, creating a sense of shared purpose among the friends, family and colleagues that they've welcomed to your cause and setting an example for how to fundraise.
Peer-to-Peer events support teams and team of teams with captain assignment, member management, page personalization, tagging and more.
By default, there's a maximum of one Captain per Peer-to-Peer fundraising team (Note: it's possible for a team to have no captains). But for some teams, two – or more – captains is better than one, and helps to amplify the fundraising efforts of the team in their community.
The Team Co-Captains add-on built specifically for these special cases.
Team Co-Captains is available through the raisin Bloom package or in Peer-to-Peer Plus add-on.
Configuring the add-on
The Team Co-Captain add-on may be configured to one, many or all of your Peer-to-Peer campaigns on Pledge or Multi-Pledge modules. To add new events, contact our Support team.
Assigning Co-Captains
In the campaign, Co-Captains may be assigned by administrators or by the primary (i.e. lead) Captain who created the team.
For administrators:
The ability for administrators to assign Captains and Co-Captains is performed from Manage Teams.
Follow these steps:
- Search for the Team in Manage Teams
- Click the team name in the results to navigate the Team Profile
- In the Team Members table, select "Edit" in the row of the member you'd like to re-assign
- You'll notice to Captain columns:
- To assign a member to the Co-Captain role, check the "Co-Captain" box. Teams may have an unlimited number of Captains.
- To re-assign the primary Captain, check the "Captain" box. The previous lead captain will automatically be re-assigned to the member role.
- Click "save" on the far right of the row
For Captains from the Participant Centre:
Co-Captains can also be assigned by your participants directly from the Participant Centre without administrator intervention. This ability isolated to the leader/primary Captain, following these steps:
- Visit the Team Progress page on the left-hand side menu (or on mobile, the top-right hamburger menu)
- Check the box in the Captain column adjacent to the member who should be re-assigned
- Save, and that's it!
Co-Captain permissions and visibility
In other words, when Co-Captain is assigned, what can they do and what do they receive?
Once assigned Co-Captains appear and behave like any other Captain in the event. They can:
- Ability to edit Team Page
- Ability to view Donations to Team
- Identification on Team Members (i.e. team roster) widget on Team Page (pictured below)
- Receives same automatic and scheduled Message Templates emails as Captain: Team E-mail to Participants, Individual Joins a Team; Team Goal Not Reached; E-mail to Participants (where Team Captain defined)
- Receives Team Captain Milestone Badge
Notably, Co-Captains cannot assign Captains from the Participant Centre. This is a function of the primary captain only
