What does CVV mean?

The CVV is the 3 digits on the back of your Visa/MasterCard or on the front of your AMEX. Enabling CVV with your payment gateway provides additional security to further prevent fraudulent transactions.

Collecting cardholder CVV/CVC from donors/purchasers is an additional card security measure, and recommended in order to prevent against potential credit card fraud.

Important notice: Please be aware that effective September 25, 2021, raisin will require CVV for all payment accounts. This feature will be mandatory for all new payment accounts, and automatically enabled for all existing accounts.

Enabling CVV/CVC with your payment gateway

raisin supports CVV/CVC, so long as it is enabled with your payment gateway. Contact your payment gateway to ensure it's turned on.

Enabling CVV in raisin

Under General Setup, go to Manage Payment Accounts tab within the Revenue Management section. Here, you can create or modify existing gateways that process donations accepted on raisin. When entering gateway details, click the "Requires CVV" checkbox. You'll notice a warning in red reminding you to turn this feature on within your gateway. Click Update to save your changes.

Once complete, a CVV field will be added to all forms requesting credit card details for one-time gifts.

While in Test Mode, the "System Test" payment account does not have CVV enabled. Once you go live with a payment account where "Requires CVV" is enabled, the CVV option will appear on your payment forms.
