Your payment gateway locks when a recurring donation has been made in your event.
If your payment gateway is locked for edit, in Live or Test mode, a recurring donation has been made in the event.
raisin uses a processing method called "tokenization" to create secure tokens for your recurring donors. Tokenization encrypts, or "tokenizes" the donor's information in a manner that is specific to your payment processor.
Changing the payment account interferes with our ability to communicate with your gateway and the existing tokens generated with your gateway. As a result, we prevent you from making changes to the gateway so that recurring donations are not inadvertently declined due to a mismatched token.
Updating a locked gateway
If your payment gateway has materially changed and there are events with recurring donations that you need to update, we recommend following these steps:
- Create a new payment gateway in General Setup
- If your new payment gateway has a different than password, tokens for your existing payment gateway will be required. Contact your payment gateway for this information.
- Identify the campaigns where the processor must be changed. Event IDs will be appreciated.
- With this information, reach out to our Support team to modify the events and match tokens to your new gateway.
Updating a campaign in Test mode
To unlock the gateway in Test mode, simply cancel any test recurring donations you may have made while testing the campaign.
