To welcome fundraisers to your cause and encourage them to take the first key steps in their fundraising journey, we've added guided onboarding steps to P2P registration flows. We call it the Super Starter.
Peer-to-Peer fundraising season is getting started, and like you, we're super excited about this season's campaigns.
This week, we're launching the "Peer-to-Peer Super Starter," a guided onboarding experience that transforms good intentions into fundraising success.
Research shows that fundraisers who personalize their pages, add photos, and actively share raise significantly more, but we know that despite best intentions, many supporters never complete these crucial steps.
Peer-to-Peer Super Starter is a guided onboarding experience designed to improve fundraiser engagement and success by encouraging key actions during the moment participants are most engaged: immediately after registration.
Super Starter walks your participants through the proven steps that lead to fundraising success:
- Making a self-donation
- Personalizing their fundraising page with photos and a compelling story
- Sharing their page with their networks
- Accessing their fundraising portal for ongoing engagement
Benefits
Based on our data and experience, the literature (academic, public and industry) and your feedback, we're launching the Super Starter to:
- Increase fundraiser engagement: Captures participant enthusiasm at its peak
- Reduce "$0 fundraisers": Encourages immediate self-donations (which research shows leads to 6X higher results)
- Heighten personalization rates: Makes it simple for fundraisers to create compelling pages
- Broaden reach: Facilitates immediate sharing when motivation is highest
Super Starter Setup
We're automatically adding Super Starter to all Peer-to-Peer events - no configuration needed.
The Super Starter officially released on April 11, 2025.
We've prepared a video walkthrough to help onboard you (pun intended) through the enhancements:
The Super Starter experience will integrate new system content at two key points in your registration flow for Individuals, Team Captains and Team Members:
These enhancements won't affect any content you've already customized. All title and button styling will be inherited from your Design in the Website Builder.
However, with Super Starter's guidance on personalization and sharing, you may want to review your current page content for any instructions that might now be redundant.
Payment page
A self-donation is highly correlated with future fundraising results across both the literature and our own data.
To increase awareness of just how impactful it can be and why, a little "nudge" is being added to Self-Donation system content block found on the Registration > Payment page.
The Self-Donation block will now consist of:
- A new title, changing "Self Donation" to "Donate to Your Page"
- Dynamic copy pertaining to receiptable amounts
- Self-donation badge icon
- Microcopy, hard-coded (English & French)
Yes, the stats and rationale on why self-donations help predict fundraising success are real!
Success page
The majority of changes, though, will happen on the Register > Success pages (Individual, Team Captain and Team Member). This is where we'll super-start the fundraising journey by motivating your participants to take quick steps to personalize their page and share it out.
Two steps will be appended to these User Flow pages, below whatever personalized content you've added via the Website Builder to these pages.
For avoidance of doubt, if you have saved modified or saved a Success page, we will leave your changes untouched. If you've never updated these pages, we'll update our default content.
First:
Fundraisers are asked to upload a complete their fundraising page with:
- A photo from their device (desktop, tablet or mobile are all supported)
- Share why they're fundraising in their story
- Your campaign's Default Participant Page content will appear as a sample in the Page Title and Your Story regions
Any changes they make will be saved to their personal page going forward.
In addition to these actions, fundraisers can always choose to "Skip for now" and move to the next step, or launch their Fundraising Portal (i.e. Participant Centre) immediately. We've added three cards that tease the robust digital fundraising and engagement tools available to them.
Second:
Upon saving or skipping, the next page encourages them to spread the word.
A system-generated region includes:
- Option to preview their page (opens in a new window)
- Sample copy with the Meta Title of the Campaign (as defined in the Website Builder) that's fully editable by the fundraiser, and a link to their page
- Button to copy the content to their clipboard and paste wherever they like
- Stare their page even faster with quick share tools for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and another copy option
The final call-to-action again invites them into the Fundraising Portal to continue their campaign with the full suite of tools available to them.
Tracking Adoption
There's two ways to track how your fundraisers are responding to the Super Starter onboarding tools: raisin's built-in Analytics platform and GA4 (Google Analytics 4).
raisin Analytics
In raisin Analytics, there are several Contact data points that pertain to fundraiser engagement:
- Page Image
- Page Story
- Page Share
Use personalization to drag these fields into your Participant Report(s) and Peer-to-Peer dashboards to draw connections between engagement and fundraising results or filters to create lists for your engaged fundraisers.
Here's an example of how to use personalization (albeit for slightly different purposes):
Analytics with Personalization is available to clients with subscriptions to Growth and Bloom, or equivalent packages. Contact your Client Experience Manager to find out your eligibility.
Google Analyics 4 (GA4)
Google Analytics 4 will show on-page interactions with the onboarding tools. Think of this as a view of what fundraisers are clicking and doing.
We've added new page-level click events that will pass through the GA4 data layer and get tracked in "Events":

Questions?
What happens to my content on the Registration Success pages?
If you haven’t saved the Registration > Success pages before, we’ll replace the templated content with new defaults (below).
On the other hand, if you’ve saved any of the Registration Success pages, we’ll leave your modified content untouched.
What’s your suggested content?
Given that fundraisers will be guided through a few key onboarding steps, we suggest that the "Success page" express thanks, be inspirational/motivational and be somewhat instructional – almost like you’re welcoming someone to your club.
Reminder: Success page content can differ across Registration types – Individual, Team Captain and Team Member – for increased personalization. These can be updated from the User Flows > Registration pages in the Website Builder.
We've written our system defaults in this way.
If you like this content, feel free to drop it into your campaigns with the following code in English and French respectively.
English:

Every fundraising journey begins with a single step, and we're so grateful you've decided to be a part of ours.

Let's begin your journey by making your page personal – add a photo and share what inspired you to take action. At any point, you can explore the full suite of tools waiting in your Fundraising Portal.

Can I opt out of the Super Starter?
We understand the Super Starter is a new experience. It was designed as an application enhancement specifically to boost P2P fundraising – taking into account all of the available data, extant literature and client feedback – and cannot be opted out of.
While it does introduce new elements, it preserves all your existing customized content and branding, rather than replacing it.
We've found that these guided prompts actually complement your existing materials by addressing a common challenge: participants who intend to fundraise, but never complete the critical first steps. By capturing them at their highest point of engagement, Super Starter helps turn good intentions into action, ultimately making your existing program more successful.
Like all new features, we welcome your feedback on the changes.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes, like all of your Campaign sites and the Fundraising Portal (i.e. Participant Centre), the experience is fully mobile responsive.
We're in the middle of a campaign. Will this disrupt what we have going on?
Enhancements are being made only to system content: self-donation nudge and onboarding steps. We will not be making changes otherwise, and it will not affect any aspects of your campaigns.
If you've created participant-facing resources that reference the Success page and want to update them, feel free to reach out and we can take screenshots of the new Success pages for you.
We don't want to push self-donations at amounts that might be inappropriate for our audience.
In all system-generated regions, we've taken care to ensure that content is generic (e.g. fundraiser vs. participant) and accomodates the various ways and sensitivities the Peer-to-Peer module is employed. The ability to add/remove flows steps is, however, a feature we are evaluating as part of our work to re-imagine the Supporter Experience.
What's the Fundraising Portal?
In other words, it's the "Participant Centre", and is an example of changes we've made things a bit more inclusive.
We'd love your thoughts!
Like all features on our roadmap, our aim is to build products and features that drive outcomes - not just features for feature's sake.
